Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has worked as a professor of counselor education at LSU since 2000, teaching and supervising master’s level students in their pursuit of mental health and school counseling careers. In her work at LSU she has authored 5 books: Depression in Women Across the Lifespan (2020); Swimming Upstream: Parenting Girls for Resilience (2016); Adolescent Girls in Distress: A Guide to Mental Health Treatment (2013); Eating Disorders and Obesity (edited, 2013); and Girls’ and Women’s Wellness (2008).

Prior to her work as a professor at LSU, Laura worked with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. While her primary expertise is in the area of girls’ and women’s mental health, she has experience in helping clients with the following issues:

• Parenting (especially for parents of preteen and adolescent girls)
